Job Description
In this role, you will play a key role in the development and execution of electronics systems for automotive applications. This position involves working closely with various departments to ensure the successful design, sourcing, and integration of hardware and software components into our products.
Key Responsibilities:
As an E/E Component Lead Engineer you will be responsible for supplier and ESP management, design, product development, test & validation and requirements at both component and vehicle level for various markets.
Responsible for Engineering deliverables for the commodity development including:
• Design reviews
• Requirements definition/management
• Generate test plans and supplier test plan reviews for vehicle functions
• Involvement in systems FMEA’s and management of supplier DFMEA
• System and component feature and SW implementation planning
• Develop the System Design Specifications & the Statements of Work for all projects within portfolio
• Validate that all products meet the specification requirements and project targets through a documented DVP
• Ensure all requirements are captured and monitored against test results
• Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting software issues
• Lead the delivery within E/E Integration projects within the Electrical Engineering (EE) Department.
• Manage technical deliverables, planning, reporting on progress and providing expert knowledge in the area of you in charged, ensuring on time delivery and working to the highest standards possible. This will involve working across technical specialists, adopting new processes and acting as the main point of contact for your specialist area.
• Support and monitor integration of the commodity into the wider vehicle system and assist in firefighting, ensuring lessons learned are captured in component/system requirements.
• Assess E/E strategies, develop and propose improvements to vehicle and component level strategies, propose validation and gain buy-in from stakeholders.
• Support the technical discussions to deliver robust fault free designs through the application of Concurrent Engineering disciplines including DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Campaign Prevention Process, Robustness, etc.
• Involvement during vehicle system architecture and strategy discussions to meet vehicle requirements and ensure all functional safety requirements are captured.
Knowledge / Experience
• Strong negotiation and organization skills with a good track record of delivering projects on time
• Documentation of DFMEA, DVP, Timing Plans, Minutes and Actions of Meetings
• Experience working with A-SPICE and V-model to manage system/components requirements
• Strong track record of delivering significant high value business and delivering to very tight timescales
• Managing supplier and/or cross-functional teams
• Experience working for a Development or R&D center for an Automotive OEM or a Tier1 Supplier
• Expertise in automotive toolchains including Diagnostic Tools, Vector Tools, CANalyzer and CANoe etc.
• Experience with HVAC, thermal and ventilation systems is desired
• Working experience with Standards like ISO 26262 etc. is a bonus
Essential
• Proactive, solution oriented, accountable and not afraid to make decisions based on the facts available
• Degree in Electronics/Electrical, Mechatronics, Software, Automotive Engineering or similar
• Expertise in communication protocols such as CAN/LIN/Flexray etc.
• Experience with EE Architecture (component/system)
• Understanding of Vehicle system elements
• Able to actively participate in system FMEAs and related validation activities
• Ability to build relationships and influence suppliers
